How to Get the Most Out of the Pictures and Stories Blog

July 4, 2018 Alison Taylor

Hello there! We've been so busy making books that we haven't gotten around to posting many articles lately. But since we've had so many new people join us recently, I thought it might be helpful to give a little refresher course on some great things you can find in our blog.

First of all, this is not a commercial blog. Meaning no ads popping up, no annoying videos that auto-startle you to death, and no pay-per-click. We just want to share some stuff that we've learned over the years, because we think everyone should write/tell/preserve their life stories. We don't make any money from this blog. That means that we sometimes get too busy doing what we do to post regularly. Hopefully the lack of in-your-face commercialism will make up for the lack of consistency! (We'll try to post at least one new article every month.)

At the bottom of this post are some lists of some of our most popular and helpful articles, by topic.

Main blog page.

This will always display a link to the most recent post first, and the ten other articles before that. If you scroll down to the bottom and want to see more posts, click on the "Older Posts" link and it will bring up ten more articles.

Sidebar.

If you are viewing this blog on a computer screen, there is probably a sidebar on the right with some search functions (and a link to our book). If not, or if you are viewing on a mobile device, then scroll down (past the comments) to see the search functions:

Search bar.

The search bar works like any other search engine. Type in some words, and it will find all the articles that include those words.

Topics.

Our posts are mostly about pictures (scanning, digitizing, photographing, preserving, etc.) or stories (writing techniques and prompts, storytelling tips, etc.) or both. We also highlight books that we have created, so that you can be inspired by other people who have preserved their lives in a book. (We will occasionally post information about upcoming events, etc. and these will not be included in the topics search.) If you want to look at all the posts about pictures, then just click on the "pictures" topic and all the posts will display in the order of posting, most recent first.

Archive.

This is a list of every article on the entire blog, most recent first. Scroll down through the list and click on any title that is of interest to you. There's some gold down there! So here's a list of some of the best blasts from the past.

By the way, if you have a topic or question you'd like to see us address in this blog, let us know!

Other cool stuff.

Our You Tube channel. There is some great instruction here. (We also posted a handful of recorded webinars that are useful, but technically kinda rough. Just so you know.)

You can follow us on Facebook and Instagram. We don't post to social media a lot, but it's there.

Free ebooks. Yup. Really free. You can download them here.
